Great interest in the DMAN events around the Germany Year in Russia

"Lower Saxony and Russia: yesterday, today, tomorrow", the series of online events organized by DMAN in March 2021, made a successful contribution to the Germany Year in Russia and the Russian project "Economy and Sustainable Development".

The three online events attracted more than 300 participants from all over Russia. A total of 15 speakers from a wide range of disciplines provided interesting insights into the cultural heritage and the historical relations between Lower Saxony and Russia, introduced Lower Saxony as an educational location, and described the region's business landscape. More than 50 people took part in our quiz on unusual facts about Lower Saxony's history, culture and economy. The winners received small gifts and certificates of participation.

As Lower Saxony's Minister President Stephan Weil emphasized in his welcoming speech, mutual understanding between Lower Saxony and Russia, as well as between Germany and Russia, will benefit all of Europe and contribute to maintaining peace on the continent. Constant dialogue and conscious trust formed the basis for this mutual understanding, he said.

During the online events, the participants discovered Lower Saxony's culture, its rich history and its sights. They learned how foreign students can study at the state's leading universities and what support programmes are available for young scientists and start-ups. And they also had the opportunity to discuss with representatives of Lower Saxony businesses which business opportunities exist in the region and how the state government supports export-oriented Russian companies.
