Fit for Self-Leadership – new project in Zanzibar, Tanzania

DMAN is on a roll and has implemented an exciting self-learning, self-leadership and self-efficacy development project for young leaders (m/f) from the United Republic of Tanzania (Zanzibar) from 09 - 13 May 2022 in Stone Town, Zanzibar.

The project was kindly supported by the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of Lower Saxony and the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports in Zanzibar.

In this programme, women were to have the opportunity to strengthen and express their competences together with the male participants. The quantitative distribution of 2/3 women and 1/3 men was intended to ensure that the women strengthened themselves among each other and learned in the workshop how to assert themselves even in the face of men. The target group was young professionals.

Women in particular often do not dare to go forward, show their knowledge and put it into practice. They lack self-confidence, self-organisation, self-expression and assertiveness.

With its cross-cutting theme, the project "Fit for Self-Leadership, Part 1/2022" made an important contribution to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030 - SDGs), especially SDG 4 Quality Education.

For DMAN, Dr. Angela Daalmann, coach and trainer for personal development and empowerment, was on site in Stone Town and worked with the participants in the workshop on topics such as self-awareness, building self-confidence, goal setting, self-learning skills, self-leadership and self-efficacy.

To ensure sustainability and deepening, the aim is already to carry out a follow-up project with a further 5-day training measure in Zanzibar in 2023. Among other things, the participants will present their projects and previous implementation steps.
